Len came on board in 2019 after a frustrating experience trying to buy a new electric bike! Len visited many stores in the local area trying to purchase his next bike, and recieved a mixed bag of responses, none of which left him happy. He was impressed with the service he recieved at Highway Cycles but frustratingly we did not have the stock to help him with his enquiry. Len could see the potential in the store and thought the local area was begging for a proper Electric Bike dealer.
After much negotiation with Steve, Len came on board and the rest is History. Highway Cycles has been completely transformed by Len’s influence and combined with the retail skills of Steve, Adam, George & the rest of the team has continued to push Highway Cycles to the next level.
You’ll catch Len bombing around Hertford and the local area on his Riese & Muller roadster in a bright yellow helmet.
Adam joined the company full-time in 2022. He brings a wealth of skills from the IT industry with a long history in the digital retail environment, managing large teams of people within this sector.
Adam took a break from the IT world in 2021, and for a complete change of pace attained a Cytech Level 2 qualification in bicycle mechanics, and founded Two Wheels Turning - a mobile repair and service company based in Staines.
After coming on board in 2022, the Two Wheels Turning brand became part of Highway Cycles, and Adam’s People skills meant he was a great choice to bring some Managerial organisation to the team.
George joined the Highway team around 2007, initially as a part time weekend staff member in the Ware branch - And never escaped! He has now spent more than half of his life working in bike shops with almost all of this at Highway Cycles. He has been a bike nut for much longer than that, and grew up riding Dirt Jump and BMX bikes before making the transition to Mountain Bikes in his teens.
George is the font of technical mountain bike knowledge in the shop, and has a depth of mechanical knowledge and experience (and the battered hands to prove it!) that the workshop team frequently pull from when needed.
He's also pretty handy on two wheels, and you can catch him at Bike parks up and down the country or even the occasional race here and there.
Steve is the longest serving member of staff at Highway Cycles and to many of our customers, is considered 'Mr Highway'. He has been the face of the company for many years and continues to give his everything to the business, day in and day out to move Highway Cycles forward. Although no longer the owner of the buisness, Steve is still giving it the same energy and passion that kept the business supporting Hertfordshire's cyclists for the last 30 years.
Steve is the shop manager of our new Bishop's Stortford location, and often heads up our out-of-store events and displays, and when not at work you may find him cruising the Hertfordshire countryside on his Moustache Samedi X-Road with his beloved wife (and shop Mum) Lyn.
